Leigh Ballinger
I’ve been running since 2016. I started running for weight loss, which I’ve battled with pretty much all my adult life. I entered the 2016 Basingstoke Half Marathon, managed to get round just ahead of the sweeper van, and then decided I’d best join a running club!
I love being part of a club. The support, friendships and comradery is great and it’s what keeps so many people going.
I’m a natural leader. Although I am actually shy and introvert by nature, I usually overcome this by stepping up and being a bit bossy! As a Run Leader for the Hatchies I love planning routes and leading runs. Being a “back of the pack” runner i like to support that end of the pace band when I can.
I have always been a keen fundraiser, having supported cancer charities over the last few years for personal reasons. When the role of Fundraising Lead came up I knew I would be able to step into the role and set up a little team to push this aspect if the club forward. We have lots of ideas for club events and look forward to making fundraising fun! If anyone would like to discuss fundraising or would like to join the team please let me know.
